From the desk of Lori Radun

Do you ever wonder if your kids respect you?

I mean… you tell your child he can’t have a friend over now, and you would think the world was coming to an end. Or you make a simple request like turning off the video games, or cleaning up the toys, and you feel like you’re talking to a wall.

You’re not alone… most every mom experiences these battles over playtime, homework, bedtime, chores, mealtime, friends and more. The kind of power struggles that test your patience and leave you feeling out of control.

But learning how to develop your patience and effectively parent your kids is critical to their success as future adults. In the process of learning how to behave, what’s appropriate and what’s not, your child needs to feel lovable and confident so she can mature into a thriving young adult. There is nothing more important to your child’s self-worth.

That is why I developed my 7-week tele-workshop…

Patience of a Saint

Witness Every Day How Your Kids Model Your Patience and Mature Beautifully

I honestly believe God was preparing me to teach this program, only 20 years ago I didn’t know it. When I gave birth to my beautiful son Kai, I didn’t realize that I was going to be groomed to develop the patience of a saint. He screamed and cried for the first four months of his life. My in-laws kept telling me I needed to give him more milk. And then when I started him on people food, the babysitter would call me everyday to tell me that he won’t eat what I sent him for lunch. One time when he was two, I picked him up from another exasperated babysitter. She looked at me and said “Your son tore down all my curtains and ripped out all my cassette tapes today.”

That was just the beginning. By third grade, Kai was diagnosed with ADHD. I pored over parenting books looking for the best and “right” way to parent a child with ADHD, or really just to parent a child with his characteristics… strong willed, disorganized, distractible, issues with anger management, hyper most of the time, and impulsive. I sought help with family psychologists.

I wanted to be positive with my child, as hard as that sometimes was. His dad was losing his temper with him, and I could see that was not helpful. His stepdad (my husband) was frustrated with him as well, only making the situation worse. Then we had a second child. And guess what? He had special needs too, only my husband and I didn’t know it. We were having challenges with parenting our son. We had two completely different styles, and our styles were clashing and causing arguments. I could see everything that was not working in the way we were parenting, but I could not convince my husband to get on board with me.

Everything came to a head when our younger son was diagnosed with pediatric bipolar disorder in the 2nd grade. It was devastating to us, but also an answer to all the unexplained behaviors we saw in our child. But more than anything, it forced us to come together and be on the same page to use the most positive parenting strategies we could to raise our children. It was an answer to prayers for me! It was everything I had always dreamed about for my children. (not the diagnosis, but the positive parenting strategies)

Now I could take everything I had learned over the years and put it into place for my children. A beautiful, positive, patient approach to teaching children proper behavior. So it took 20 years. So I had to learn this system from a bunch of different places. So what?

Well… let me tell you what it has done for my family!

  • I rarely ever lose my patience with my children because I have a system in place that deals with their inappropriate behavior right away.
  • We now have simple house rules that the children are clear about and follow.
  • There is much less stress because our children will go weeks without needing discipline; just a simple reminder of the house rules.
  • My husband and I never fight over how to discipline the children, or what the house rules are. (big sigh of relief)
  • I don’t feel guilty about taking care of myself because I know it makes me a better mom!
  • We have fun together as a family because the household is calm and free from power struggles.
  • We don’t have to deal with embarrassing behaviors in public because we take our positive parenting strategies with us on the road.
  • My children respect me because I respect them!
  • I rest easy at night because I know that the positive tools I use to parent is building my child’s self esteem and setting him up for success as an adult.

Your Family Can Look Like This Too!

And you don’t have to have children with special needs for this program to work. As a matter of fact, if your children are typical, it will work much easier for you.

I am quite sure you are already doing a lot of things right for your children. What you do best is love them, right? But there are always tools and strategies that we can learn as moms that help us be better moms, or make our jobs easier.

Let me show you, in 7 proven steps, how you can decrease your frustration, increase your patience, and delight in a home environment of mutual respect, love and compassion.

In my 7-week tele-workshop, Patience of a Saint, you will learn all the following strategies for getting rid of those annoying child behaviors, setting yourself up to parent in a positive manner, creating the systems you need for a respectful home environment, and building your child’s self esteem for now and the future.

Still not sure? Thinking you don’t have the time or the money? I’ve been in that mindset before. You only have one shot with your children. When you invest in your children, you increase their chances of success in life. The more you grow, the more they grow. If you learn to be more patient with your children, they learn to be more patient with you and everyone else around them. They also go on to be more patient parents themselves.

Everyday your children are modeling after you and learning from you. What you teach them in the 18 years you have with them is invaluable to their future. Parenting is an extremely intentional job if you want to guarantee your children’s future success. And by success, I’m not talking about making a lot of money. Will your children be happy in life? Will your children be resilient and able to handle the stresses of our world? Will your children love and find their purpose serving others? Will your children look in the mirror and value the people they see? Will your children be responsible with their job, finances, their family and more?

This is what our job is as parents – to set up our home environment to allow these young people to grow into the wonderful human beings that God created them to be. What would you rather spend your money on? A new pair of shoes, a manicure and lattes from Starbucks, or the tools and knowledge that enable you to set your child up for happiness, confidence, responsibility, resilience, love, purpose and success?

What you will learn in this tele-workshop will be well worth the time and money you invest. It will pay for itself for years to come. When you…

  • Watch your kids mature and blossom with confidence
  • See your kids fight less, contribute and share more
  • Save precious time with parenting strategies that work
  • Relax at home with your kids because there is less stress and frustration
  • Watch other people’s kids misbehave in public and feel gratitude that it’s not your children
  • Feel respected and appreciated by your kids
  • Enjoy a beautiful relationship with your children that lasts a lifetime
  • Feel certain that your kids will be happy, responsible, loving and confident young adults
